July IWSG: Mixed Feelings About Finding Your Book in a Thrift Shop

First of all, do you buy it? Of course you do! But then the round of questions begin. Who bought it and then gave it away? Why did they not want it anymore? How come they didn't ask me to sign it? Did they absolutely hate it? (Yeah, that must be it.)

On one hand, it's quite thrilling to find my book on a thrift store bookshelf, but on the other hand, it's quite sad, too. My hometown is a map dot of a town in Texas, so the chance that this person who bought and gave away this copy knew me, is HUGE. So again, why didn't they tell me and ask me to autograph the copy?

I know. Cry me a river, right? Life could be much worse.

I guess the one big positive is my book was for sale (even if only .99) along with tattered copies of popular children's picture books. For once in his tiny, acorny life, LITTLE A. was shelf buddies with a copy of DON'T LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS!

Yes, in an odd way, Little Acorn's feeling positively giddy right about now. Me? I guess I'll go ahead and scribble this one down in my accomplishment book.

Write on, folks!
