IWSG & Little Acorn's Big Fall

Sorry about the late post today, but I wanted to wait until I heard back from Nick (see IWSG below).

***Fabulous News!
LITTLE ACORN'S BIG FALL is now available in paperback on Amazon. After publishing as an ebook with uTales back in October, Caroline (my talented illustrator from France!) and I decided to take Little A. into print.

I'm in the process of signing up for my first public appearance at the Texas Word Wrangler library event this fall, the perfect time to talk acorns. In the next coming weeks, I'll be contacting the local elementary schools to set up author talks for the beginning of the school year, too. Yay!!

***Ever wonder how to make a book trailer?
I follow Darcy Pattison's blog, and this week she posted a super-awesome post about making book trailers. After reading, I think even I can make one! You can check it out HERE.

***March IWSG
If you're an insecure writer, and unfamiliar with Alex Cavanaugh's super group of writerly peeps called the Insecure Writer's Support Group, you've come to the right place! Click HERE to sign up.

In light of March's IWSG post, I decided rather than boring you with an I-feel-kinda-crappy-at-the-moment post, I'd like to feature a special book edited by a member of the IWSG, Nick Wilford. Because when I take a hard look at my own life, it's peachy compared to the lives of some others.

OVERCOMING ADVERSITY is a project very near and dear to Nick's heart.

So Nick, Andrew and all the fine writers who took part in creating this book, I dedicate this post to you. Congrats and job well done!!

A good deal of Andrew's story can be read HERE on Nick's blog. As you can read, overcoming adversity is a perfect theme for the anthology. All proceeds go towards Andrew's college fund. You can check out Andrew's page on Facebook by clicking here.

Here's a bit about the anthology and how to order:

A collection of seventy moving and uplifting original pieces - real life, flash fiction, and poetry - about battling against the odds and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. The contributors include Amazon bestselling authors Alex J. Cavanaugh and Kyra Lennon, and the cream of upcoming talent.

The anthology is part of a fundraising effort to send the editor's stepson, Andrew McNaughton, to a specialist college in England. Andrew has cerebral palsy, and is a remarkable young man with a promising future. However, the free further education options offered in his own country of Scotland will not challenge him and allow him to progress. In order to access the education he deserves, Andrew will have to pay exorbitant fees, thus creating a situation of discrimination.

Help us get Andrew to college by buying a book that runs the full gamut of human emotions, ultimately leaving you inspired and glad to be alive. Whatever struggles you are going through, our sincere hope is that this book will help.

I'm so fortunate to have a friend that loves making trailers for me. They can be fun.

and I hope the anthology is a big hit for Nick.

  10. All great things you've posted about today! Hope your event is wonderful and glad you featured Nick's book.

  11. I always find myself smiling when I visit your blog! 'Little Acorn's Big Fall' looks adorable.
And I think, as Insecure Writers, we can all learn something from those who prevail over adversity. Thanks for the heads up on the anthology!

  12. Congrats on your book! And congrats again to Nick for all he's done in creating the anthology. I'll have to check out that post on how to make a book trailer, but I do have to push making another book trailer down on my author-tasks list. There is so much to do! I need more hours in the day, too. My lists keep growing longer and longer, and I feel like I cross very few things off. Then I think to myself: WWTD - what would Thadeus do? He'd probably bite someone with that silly zombie grin of his. And that makes me smile. :)

  13. Sorry for getting here late, Candilynn! I appreciate the support. It's gone so well, I'm thinking of making it an annual thing, so I'd love to have you on board next time round!

Congrats on the paperback! Kids will love it. :)

  14. Yay for Little Acorn in print! I featured Nick on my IWSG, too. A perfect platform for a great cause :)
