Little Acorn Art

I've played all week with watercolors. Most of them I wasn't happy with at the end. A few, I believe capture the essence of the story. Here is a cute close-up of Little A. as he's just fallen from Papa's branch. Tell me what you think. I'd love to hear your opinions!
Happy Sunday!!!

  1. I like the warm tones of this picture. Watercolour does give a soft feeling befitting of Autumn, doesn't it?

  2. I think it is gorgeous and relevant to the text. If I had half the talent you have, I'd already be subbing my works as author/illustrator!

  3. You've really conveyed the autumn (fall) tones here, and I like the softness to the picture - the curves of the shapes as well as the pale swirls of watercolour. It's beautiful!

  5. @Claudine, I agree, watercolors do convey landscapes / seasons very well. I've been reading a few "how-to" watercolor books and I'm learning a ton.
@Alleged, Oh! You're so sweet! Thank you for your vote of confidence. ;) I've been debating whether I should submit as a whole package...
@CD, I've worked with oils before. I never could get the softness with the medium. I love working with watercolors.
@Elizabeth, thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! Later on in the story, Little A. pops his cap off when he finally sprouts two tiny leaves!

    You guys rock! Thanks!!

  8. Hey, Juliana! I LOVE your army of Santas! What a great idea. Thank you for your sweet comment about my artwork!

Catherine, ever since I wrote this story, I see faces on acorns, everywhere. I even hear "voices" when I look at acorns on the ground. I feel a bit crazy! I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. :)
