Guess My Current WIP

http://julianalbrandt.com/blog/

Ugh, well I guess I missed the boat for the first week on this blog fest! There I was standing at the pier. Little did I know that ship had done sailed.

I just entered my post, and the contest ended last Friday *she types smiling*.  Y'all can still read it here on my blog if you'd like. It has a motivating message at the end. Oh well, on to this week's contest!

This week, we’ll cater to those of us who are completely possessive over our WIPs and don’t want to give anything too telling away. Instead of posting something intimate about our writing, post a picture or piece of music that describes your WIP.
What do you look to when you write? What inspires you? How else do you use your creativity? Music? Pictures? Art?

Some of you may know, I write many things all at once. I'm a writer with ADD. Big time. I've selected the YA book I'm working on since the non-fiction about roses would be too simple to guess. Here is a photo that teeters on the verge of tipping the bucket about my WIP. For me and my writing, this image speaks volumes.

Can you guess? What does this image say to you?

  1. Like the image. Maybe world destruction

  2. Hmmm...with that overlay of chaotic junk, I wonder if this is a post-apocalyptic piece.

  3. Both of you are lukewarm! My daughter challenged me to come up with something different, so I did.

  4. I think you've written about a girl with a nasty secret she must keep hidden in order to save her sister from marrying the newly appointed leader of the destroyed Earth. He's a real scumbag, but worse than that, the girl knows what he did to gain his power, and now she must take her sister and try to escape his ever watching eye.

    Maybe... :)

  5. Dystopia! That's my guess! But I'm lousy at puzzles...urgh. Hehehe- nice to meechya!

  6. Utopian fiction is the creation of an ideal world and Dystopian fiction is the opposite, the creation of a nightmare world. ~Wikipedia

Hmmm, it may quite possibly be a mixture of both worlds...

Cassie, you're hilarious! I love your guess! You have an imaginative mind. :)

Waving @ Cassie, Misty, Angela, & Debra!

  7. I'm guessing it's a dystopian, set amid the chaos of a ruined earth. Maybe one heroic teen manages to find something to salvage amidst the destruction and seeds a new, better society that will nurture the planet rather than destroy it.

    Just a guess...

  8. Ooo, Kate's guess sounds like a great book. I hope you're writing that!

I'm going with something akin to Wall-E- the earth is destroyed by garbage and human waste. It's up to the heroine to save it :)

  9. Wow, I'm amazed at how much you ladies gained from looking at this one image!!! Hi, Juliana! Nice to meet you! I've never seen Wall-E, but golly, you and Kate should take up mind reading!

  10. hmmm, I'm thinking the earth is fighting back against all the pollution and creating its own kind of "ice junk" age to push mankind out of existence or at least to submission. :D

  11. I going with the people on earth are destroying it by pollution and litter? Am I somewhat close?

  12. My pic must have been too easy! Ms. Saba, interesting concept!

    Deana, yes you're close. :))

  14. Enjoyed hopping over to your blog, Coleen! Thanks for your visit here on my trail to pub. I think it's safe to say, since there are so many great guesses, apocalyptic would be one way of describing the new wip!

  15. Awesome photo! It brings so much to mind... A post apocalyptic novel with a sci-fi twist? Humans striving to survive in a damaged world, having to figure out what the next step is going to be while avoiding death?

I love your blog! Good luck with the rest of the fest! :)

  16. Oh, oh. Urban apocalypse. Not total apocalypse, just for those who destroy the planet they were given. Go green guerrilla warfare must be involved.

  17. I think that a girl has had a vision of the end of the world--that every structure on earth with be destroyed and the earth will be covered in rubble, but she will have to cipher through the debris to find a single lost coin that has the ability to conjure an ancient time traveler who will be able to appear and erase what happened so earth will be back to normal, but the girl will figure out she doesn't really want to undo what has been done and therefore has an inner conflict going on, all the while she's falling madly in love with said conjurer. Close? :-p

Good luck writing your non-fiction, btw!

  18. Ugh, just lost all my comments to y'all! @Melissa, Tasha, & Courtney~Thanks for visiting and commenting!

Your guesses are spot-on. Although, there are a few elements, twists & mysteries I will leave unrevealed. ;)

Tasha, I like your "not total apocalypse guess!

    See y'all around!

  19. Interesting image. I'm guessing your book is has to do with humanity being destructive and messing the world up. (This reminds me I need to write up my warm and fuzzy post. ^^;;)

  20. Wow, that's very intriguing. Has anyone said environmental and recycling yet? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Catherine, environment definitely ties in with theme!

I'm still amazed the image says all of these things.

    Hi, Patricia!

    Thanks for your visits. :))

  22. A very large TV satellite crashes on the Earth, leaving the schedules blank. Survivors fight over the last Friends DVDs.

  23. Hey, Emma! I just spit out my coffee looking at the images on your blog post! Your guess is hilarious!

btw, I've clicked to follow your blog. Google is creepy and likes to "unfollow" me from blogs, all on its own. So, if that happens, sorry! I have a few blogs I follow, where I have to re-sign up every single time I visit!

  26. Nice to meet you, Candy :) (love your name, btw)

My guess is that your WIP has to do with the environment? Maybe global warming?

I've added myself as a follower to your blog.

  27. Thanks, Kristy! I've always disliked my name, it's silly-sounding, but thank you!!

Environment plays a huge role in the theme of the book(s).
