Another Query Goes Out

Have I mentioned before that I love it when literary agencies approve of email queries? In the day of GREEN, it's the only way to go as far as I'm concerned.

I heard some great news recently about a newly launched Literary Studio seeking new clients for children / YA material. A while back, I'd written an adorable picture book for a contest I entered in July. Needless to say, it didn't win, but now I can send it on to agents & publishers.

I wrote my query letter yesterday, rewrote it several times, read it aloud, showed it to my critique partner, read it to my newest canine baby (she smiled!) and stared at it for a full ten minutes before I pasted it into the body of an email. I made sure I spelled the agent's name correctly, again, kissed it goodbye and hit "send".

Phew! Another one down.

And, congrats to my writing critique partner...she sent one off at the same moment! Best of luck, Nisha! And, thanks for holding my hand.

  1. Congratulations on getting one out! I struggle to hit that send button, too. I obsess over my one shot to get it right. Sometimes it takes my daughter yelling "Send it!" for me to do it. I got 2 out this month. It feels great!

  2. Thanks for your comment, Lois! I know what you mean. I was mailing a snail mail submission at the post office. I had to force myself to go in and nearly threw-up in line! All I wanted to do was rip open my envelope to check the manuscript once more. I think the key is to mail it and forget it. Kind of like love, if it comes back to you w/ a positive reply, it was meant to be! If not, send it somewhere else! Congrats on your submits, too! Stop by anytime!

  4. Well, it was you on my shoulder whispering, "send it already!"
I'm so glad we're in this together, or I'd be in the same place I was a year ago - just dreaming.

  7. It does feel good to get them out. I've already received a couple of rejections. My feeling is, "oh well" now I can move on to the next agent! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
